A lifetime drawing fish
I'm Peter Perch, an illustrator, designer and artist with a lifelong fascination with fish, wildlife and outdoor life.
Drawing has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Ever since I could hold a pencil, I've filled sketchbooks with drawings of what I find at rivers, in forests and in other wild places. Those sketchbooks now fill hundreds of books, and they're still the starting point for every project I work on.
Fish are my favourite subject, but my work goes well beyond fish. I've made illustrations, packaging, murals, branding and graphic design for clients including Patagonia, Simms, DRT, Gamakatsu, Pikestreet Market, Puma, Adidas, Philips, The North Face, Huerco and many others. My background in UX and graphic design also lets me create icons, infographics and digital files that work well in websites, apps and products.
Every commission starts with pencil sketches. These develop into detailed black-and-white drawings, then colour studies, and finally the finished artwork. Whether I'm drawing a trout, designing packaging or painting a large mural, I believe the best ideas come from drawing.
Today I work with brands, publishers, agencies and outdoor companies around the world. My artwork combines careful observation, strong design and a real passion for nature.
